The Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for children ages 4 through 6 and is designed to be accessible to students of all abilities and genders. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. This curriculum should provide students with the most fun and exciting training methods available for this age group.
The rank and testing system used by the Tigers is slightly different than others as well. Tigers can earn eight collectible animal patches to display on their uniforms as follows:
Turtle for white belt
Tiger for orange belt
Cheetah for yellow
Lion for camo
Eagle for green
Phoenix for purple
Dragon for blue
Cobra for brown
Panther for red
Why Tiny Tigers?
🐢 FOSTERS SELF-DISCIPLINE
One of the central tenets of all forms of the martial arts is an absolute focus on self-discipline. Kids with a martial arts background, however, are continually reminded of how essential self-discipline is.
🐯 INCREASED SELF-ESTEEM
Confidence comes with achievement, so your child's self-esteem level will get a boost with every new move they master and every belt they earn.
🦁 IMPROVE LISTENING SKILLS
In order to master the skills being taught and advance through the belt ranks, your child will have to exercise superior listening skills.
🐲 INSTILLS A SENSE OF RESPECT
Respect is not what you know, it’s what you do. Learning Songahm Taekwondo will teach your child that you earn respect by showing respect towards others. When attending classes, your child will be learning lessons in respect along with the exciting techniques and skills of Songahm Taekwondo.
Tiny Tigers learn part of the form the Karate for Kids classes learn. Form sheets are handed out during the first couple weeks of each session. They will also be available in the Belt Form Sheets page on this website.
Tiny Tigers learn half the color belt forms the Karate for Kids learn in class. Mr. P will help guide on which half of the form the Tiny Tiger students will learn.
